Educator, Speaker, Author, Pod-caster
I’ve been a Jewish educator for 25 years in a variety of settings, ages and denominations. I’ve been a classroom teacher - primarily Judaic studies and English ; a religious school director, a featured speaker and scholar in residence in places such as the Limmud Festival in Birmingham, England, and Orthodox Synagogues in Albany, NY and Edinburgh, Scotland and for institutions such as Isralight, JConnect and Jewlicious. Currently, I teach regularly for The Pico Shul in Los Angeles. Through News Lens Educational Consulting, I’ve been giving professional development workshops for teachers all over the US and UK.
In 2011, I was so honored to win the Jewish Federation of Los Angeles’ Next Big Jewish Idea contest, including a large grant to help me develop and produce my LaunchBox products, which are games and activities that deal with big philosophical issues through a Jewish lens. You can learn more here.
While I have a Masters of Arts in Teaching from The American Jewish University, my undergraduate degree in drama from New York University has helped prepare me for my career in public speaking and teaching as well as having a great time on my podcast, Overthrowing Education.
I love to inspire people with my writing, as well., whether it be in spiritual matters such as my essays at Aish.com. In 2017, Behrman House published my book, The Jewish Educator’s Companion.
